Acceptable use policy

This policy applies to everyone who uses emketech.com or a product EmKeTech publishes at an address ending in emketech.com (the “services”). It forms part of the terms of use. Where a product has its own acceptable use rules, they apply in addition to this policy.

You must not use the services to:

• break any law or regulation, or help anyone else to do so, including laws on fraud, consumer protection, data protection, export control and sanctions;
• create, upload, process or share content that infringes anyone’s copyright, trade mark, privacy or other rights;
• create, upload, process or share content that is unlawful, including child sexual abuse material, content that incites violence or hatred, and defamatory material;
• harass, threaten, intimidate, impersonate or abuse any person, including EmKeTech staff;
• upload, distribute or store malware, viruses or any other code designed to harm, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to a system or data; or
• deceive people, for example by phishing or by misrepresenting who you are.

You must not:

• access, or attempt to access, any account, system or data you are not authorised to access, including EmKeTech’s internal systems reached through the employee login;
• probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the services, or breach or bypass any security or authentication measure, without our prior written permission;
• interfere with or disrupt the services, their servers or networks, including by denial-of-service attacks or by deliberately overloading them; or
• circumvent rate limits, account lockouts, file size or usage limits, or any other restriction we place on the services.

Discovering a vulnerability during ordinary use is not a breach of this policy. Please report it as described in Reporting a vulnerability.

The services are built for people using them in the ordinary way. You must not use bots, scrapers, crawlers or other automated means to access, copy or extract content or data from the services, or send requests at a volume beyond what a person using the service normally would, unless we have agreed to it in writing.

This does not apply to search engines indexing the public pages of emketech.com in line with its robots.txt file.

You must not upload or process other people’s personal data with the services unless you have a lawful basis for doing so, and you must use any personal data you handle with the services in line with the data protection law that applies to you. Recording someone, or processing documents about them, can require their knowledge or consent; that responsibility is yours.

You must not use the careers application form or the contact form to:

• send spam, advertising, bulk or automated submissions;
• apply in someone else’s name, or submit false or misleading information;
• submit another person’s CV or personal data without their authority; or
• send files containing malware or content unrelated to your application or enquiry.

If you believe you have found a security vulnerability in emketech.com or an EmKeTech product, please tell us at support@emketech.com. To help us act on it:

• describe the issue, where it is, and the steps needed to reproduce it, and include any proof of concept;
• access, change or keep no more data than is strictly necessary to demonstrate the issue, and never data belonging to other people;
• do not disrupt the services, degrade them for other users, or use social engineering or physical means; and
• give us a reasonable time to investigate and fix the issue before you disclose it to anyone else.

Reporting a vulnerability in line with this section is not a breach of this policy. It does not authorise any other testing, which still requires our prior written permission.

If we reasonably believe the services are being used in breach of this policy, we may, depending on the seriousness of the breach:

• issue a warning;
• remove or disable access to the content concerned;
• block requests, restrict use, or suspend or close an account;
• disregard or delete applications or messages that breach it; and
• report the matter to law enforcement or another appropriate authority, and share information with them where the law permits or requires it.

We may take these steps without notice where that is reasonable, for example to protect the services or other people.
